Rose Pillay is an online coach

What attracted you to become a coach?

We live in a fragile world with daily challenges. Often, we allow the perceived negative elements of life to limit our potential and hijack our dreams. I recognised the power of coaching to help us transcend our beliefs about ourselves and the world. Coaching reminds us that we possess the solutions, the resources, the inner wisdom and instinctive capabilities to soar. Hence, I wanted to be a part of something that was bigger than myself.

Where did you train?

I obtained my ILS master coach accreditation in 2017 and my certification with ICF in 2021.

What kind of coaching do you offer?

  • Purpose coaching
  • Business/executive coaching
  • Career coaching
  • Leadership coaching
  • Wellness and personal branding coaching

How does coaching help people find their purpose?

My coaching approach is firstly to help people connect with their purpose in order to life a meaningful life and to do meaningful work.

The goal of purpose coaching is to help people pursue their specific ambitions. This may include passionately building their careers and businesses, or enhancing their executive presence. Others may require wellness coaching for a holistic wellbeing. Leadership coaching is another avenue to improve leadership effectiveness in all aspects of life.

What sort of coaching clients do you usually see?

My clientele ranges from secretaries to executives in corporate organisations, as well as entrepreneurs and young adults starting their careers.

Do you ever suggest books or other materials to clients?

Yes – depending on how the coachee navigates the conversation, I will make appropriate recommendations. Some material includes:

  • The Enneagram to understand how you process life and to determine new strategies for living
  • Ikigai to help get clarity on your life’s work
  • Toolkits for career transitions and leadership development

What do you like about being a coach?

I cherish the wonderful privilege of watching people evolve as they access different parts of themselves that was previously dominant.

What is less pleasant?

It saddens me when people sometimes don’t see their own potential and how impactful they could be.

What is one life lesson you try to live by?

We are human beings and not human doings – we must therefore bring who we are to what we do.

What do you wish people knew about coaching?

Coaching allows you to connect with your innate power, wisdom and strength. The coaching journey is the most liberating gift you can give yourself.
