About Me

Hello, and welcome to my profile.

I'm Angie - a BACP Accredited counsellor experienced in providing counselling sessions to adults and adolescents in Sheffield and Doncaster.

I believe that we can face emotional challenges at any time throughout our lives. Sometimes these challenges are easy to recognise, such as bereavement , anxiety, stress or depression, whereas at other times you may just have a niggling feeling that something isn't quite right - it is at these times that having an experienced and qualified counsellor alongside you can help.

As your counsellor, I will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for us to explore feelings, issues and challenges that you may be facing. Together, we will decide upon a focus for the sessions based on your current situation, and will consider what you want to get from participating in the counselling process.

How I work

I am a humanistic counsellor, which means I will help you to explore your feelings, your values and your place in the world, and how these things are impacting on your day to day life.

At the heart of my approach is the value I place in the relationship between client and counsellor - between you and I. Each counselling partnership is as unique as the two people that make it, therefore your counselling experience will be unique and personal to you.

What to expect in the first session

Generally, our first session is a chance for us to meet, talk a little about what has brought you to seek counselling and to see if you feel as though you would like to work with me.

In this session I will introduce you to our counselling contract which outlines the guidelines that we will agree to follow during our work together and includes information such as the dates and times of our sessions, how and when both you and I can be contacted and an agreement about confidentiality.

Following this session, if we agree to continue working together we will agree a mutually convenient time to meet, usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis depending on your preference.

I understand that the first session can feel slightly daunting, and am happy to talk to you on the phone to provide more detail about this session if you find that you have questions that are not answered here.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Anxiety
  • Low self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Disordered eating, such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating
  • Coming to terms with abuse
  • Problems within relationships
  • Bereavement and loss
