Nick Vinyard
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor who alongside general counselling and therapy, specialises in treatment for and recovery from addiction, I am also a front-line drug and alcohol counsellor spending part of my time working within a residential rehabilitation clinic.
I am an effective therapist and counsellor for help with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, compulsive and obsessive behaviours, life transitions, relationship issues and co-dependency.
Firstly, you can expect a warm and friendly approach, I will seek to understand what it is that you hope to achieve from counselling and we will work together to have the best chance of achieving that. Therapy is a healing process that requires work by both the client and counsellor, but I know through experience that when these relationships work well, healing takes place and positive change is born, clients are empowered and lives are changed for the better.
Please message or call me and I will arrange an initial consultation at your convenience, we'll informally chat and if I feel I can help you, I will offer you a course of sessions. I will not ask you to decide there and then, you will be free to go away and think about it if you wish.
Substance addiction and addictive behaviours, include; alcoholism, drugs, (illegal and prescription) gambling, work, relationships, exercise, sex, pornography, social media, OCD, gaming, shopping, food and eating, the list could go on, whatever it is you do more of than you would like to be doing and is causing you distress or problems in your life, I can offer help.
Through my own recovery journey and personal life challenges I became involved in healing and recovery communities and set out on a path that would ultimately change my life in ways that I could not have believed possible. Through finding the right healing relationships, the right support and accepting the help on offer, I changed, and changed for the better, and so today, I am working to help others find recovery for themselves.
Addiction counselling is about treating the mind, body, and spirit. It is a holistic approach that can be directional, challenging, and instructive, but can equally be empathic, relational, and compassionate. Firstly, I help my clients to properly understand and then hopefully accept their illness, before moving on to the effective treatment that is available to them. Then, if they have a genuine desire to be free, and can be open, honest, and willing to recover, there is a solution.
Addiction does not only affect the addict, it affects everyone close to them and family support and guidance can be an important part of the process. Along with ongoing support and guidance for the client, there is considerable recovery support available within the community if you know where to find it, and ongoing and aftercare services can be designed to meet the individual client's needs.
There is a solution. You can be free of your addiction, you can live a happy, joyous, and free life, you do not have to live this way anymore, there is a proven and tested way out.
