About me
Most of us want to feel safe and loved, and to experience delight, autonomy and fulfilment. Yet life can sometimes leave us feeling just the opposite – and we often don't know why. As a psychotherapist-in-training, I can offer low-cost, in-depth therapy to adults which is informed by compassion, curiosity and a personal understanding of what it's like to feel lost, worthless or alone. I work with adults as a fully qualified counsellor but I'm in training to specialise in therapy for children and adolescents. That means I can be particularly helpful to parents and anyone else with young people in their care. I believe our childhood fundamentally shapes who we are as adults, so I explore with my clients how past experiences intersect with current relationships. An understanding of the past can often make sense of today's problems at work and with friends and family. I'm trained integratively, which means my clients and I find a way to work together which suits them best. For some people this might be an opportunity to talk through difficulties and shape a new, more coherent narrative about their lives. Others may find art therapy, which draws on the power of our intuitive and creative right brain, most helpful. All my work is informed by an understanding of neuroscience, trauma, attachment disorder and neurodiversity. Here’s some feedback I received from a recent client: Laura is sympathetically inquisitive and instinctively followed my train of thought whilst questioning my internal assumptions in a compassionate and constructive way. My time with Laura was incredibly valuable and quickly improved my ability to positively evaluate and manage relationship challenges. I can't wait to hear the human story you bring, and I look forward to working with you.
