Hi, my name is Julie, I am an integrative hypnotherapist and life coach with accredited advanced counselling skills with a psychology foundation. I see clients within a private practice at ‘The Grange’ in Morden. A beautiful and calming setting which provides a sanctuary for you to feel relaxed and comfortable. The emphasis being that you as a client feel welcome and experience a warm and empathetic therapy time with me, where you can share your concerns in confidence within a trusted and non-judgemental environment.

As a hypnotherapist providing life coaching and therapeutic skills, this enables me to use several therapy principles and specific types of techniques, strategies and tools. This allows flexibility and choice within the sessions that can be tailor-made to suit you and your needs, while considering the personality of the individual, your nature of concern and desired outcome. I find working as a hypnotherapist and applying positive psychology can further support the conversational work, while the value in coaching principles can help inspire you to attain your goals and aspirations. My practice also provides walk-and-talk therapy sessions as an alternative to the clinic-based setting (please see my website for further information).   

I have always had an interest in people’s mental health and well-being and had empathy for how the complexities of feelings and thoughts can affect a person and relationships. So after going through personal experiences and adversity of my own, it was a natural pathway for me to study and have a better understanding for becoming a therapist. I gained my psychology degree and developed my professional career as an integrated hypnotherapist so I can help individuals through their difficult and challenging times. I believe personal life experience is fundamental in understanding others especially when we listen and empathise with what an individual is struggling with and experiencing. Compassion is a valuable attribute combined with the professional academic experience developed and these combined enhances the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. 

We all need a little help sometimes and currently challenging times are being experienced by many of us. Having a sanctuary to talk in confidence with a professional who can support you will allow you the time to reflect on the outcome you wish to achieve for resolving your problem or a situation. Alternatively, helping you to manage your concern differently or aiming to take positive action to change your life and well-being. I will help you with supportive interactive therapy and counsel based on integrative counselling techniques as well as the holistic value that meditation, mindfulness and hypnotherapy can bring. So feel free to make contact as your call is important to me.

The clinic’s ethos is based on a humanistic approach and experience of self-development through personal adversity, life experiences and personal growth. The value of a humanistic therapy style and open approach empathises with people’s experiences and this helps the therapeutic relationship connect when working through clients’ concerns and situations.

‘How I work’  My work includes long and short-term therapy within a private practice.

The client and therapist relationship is so important for the client’s successful outcome.  Understanding this as we engage through a counselling process, my role is to help you feel comfortable and safe to talk about any issue and to feel valued as I listen to your concern. Therapy is not about receiving advice, it involves helping you to explore and find resolve or comfort with a problem you are struggling with.  Clients are helped to make sense of their issues as they explore their thoughts and emotions regarding a problem or situation that is affecting their everyday life and mental well being. Sometimes we need to make sense of what we need to change and how it can be resolved and in doing so will allow us to change it.  An understanding of your issue inside and out and how you deal with your emotions and beliefs are part of a therapy process that will help you find resolve. 

Sessions involve discussion which allow you to look at your life and concerns in different ways and therapeutic techniques that provide a framework to make the changes that you need. As a Hypnotherapist, using hypnosis therapies compliments the conversational work explored in either life coaching or counsel sessions. Alternatively, my therapies can help encourage and mentor you for attaining personal growth and development as well as learning how to maintain any changes. The value in understanding these new ways to manage your mindset will be effective for continued well-being and personal growth. The aim is so you achieve a resolution for supporting your future well-being, emotional and psychological development.

Hypnosis is a natural state that we all experience on a daily basis. It’s that sense of being on  autopilot, while travelling to work, while watching a good film, or reading a book. When your focus is completely taken with the task in hand, to the exclusion of everything else. Everything still functions normally, you still stop at red lights and remember the route, but it’s temporarily out of your immediate awareness. The subconscious mind has taken over, and that’s what happens in hypnosis. The subconscious mind is much more receptive to new ideas and far less critical than the conscious mind. It will happily do as it is told (within reason), and be open to change. 

Holding mistaken beliefs and negative past experiences, thoughts or emotions, can create for some people further negative thinking, over thinking, over rationalising and rumination. This can be all-consuming and can affect our emotions and subsequently develop a pattern of unwanted behaviours and situations in a person’s life.  So when you are stuck in a negative mindset and need to change the story or narrative such as feeling not good enough or thinking you are not lovable, this is where the experience of hypnosis therapy helps.

Your Hypnotherapy Experience The most important understanding of hypnotherapy for the client is that you are always in control during the process of hypnosis. Depending on the reason or issue that you are seeking help with, this determines the level of trance induced, whether it is in a light or in a deeper level. In simplest terms a light trance is a light relaxation which calms the mind and body down and helps to slow down the conscious mind. A technique that primarily induces relaxation of the body and mind to aid in relaxing the critical mind. This, then helps us access the subconscious mind reflecting our emotions, feelings, thoughts, beliefs and patterns, so we can enable the subconscious mind to become more open to change and positive affirmations and goals. 

Hypnotherapy can be supported with the use of therapeutic techniques such as CBT, NLP, Psychotherapy and Direct regression; these combinations can provide the client with a quicker resolve. Equally, for some cases, longer-term therapy may be needed for hypnotherapy with direct regression or psychotherapy techniques as a deeper level of therapy work may be required when dealing with symptoms of past trauma or needing to find the root cause of concern. 

For clients who are managing internal or relationship conflicts a technique referred as psycho imaginative therapy (PIT) is a suitable choice. 

If a client's focus is on present day issues and anxiety with negative thinking, the process of hypnosis with CBT is ideal for changing the way you think or behave. Comparatively, using hypnosis with solution-focused therapy is ideal for positive and proactive thinking. 

Hypnosis also provides the necessary means of relaxation that is so beneficial in Anxiety related conditions. Relaxation and anxiety cannot co-exist.

Your Life Coaching Experience These sessions are aimed to help those clients who are currently struggling with purpose in their life, maybe in need of boosting self-esteem and confidence that is affecting them to attain a goal in life or to be more proactive. Alternatively, mentoring clients who need support with emotional or health well-being.

Life coaching offers inspiration and an opportunity to help you see you can achieve anything you want in life or aspire to be and through working towards a goal, how you can access a path to fulfilment. These sessions give you support to explore your current situation and goals, while challenging and encouraging you to work out your own solutions and desired outcome.

I prefer to charge per session and not by the hour, this allows flexibility in the session depending on how clients are feeling through challenging times as supporting you and your positive progress and outcomes is my aim for you. In these circumstances, I do not charge more if a session takes slightly longer than the appointment time.

Initial consultation session 

Initial assessment sessions are charged at the full rate. The consultation session is longer as I carry out an assessment of basic details, background and medical history. The aim of carrying out this assessment is to have a comprehensive understanding of your concerns and history to ensure that you receive appropriate counsel. The initial assessment also offers you the opportunity to ask questions and decide what is right for you. I value the initial session and time as most important as the assessment provides a gentle way for you to feel at ease, while allowing us the opportunity to meet in person which is key for a successful therapy experience and therapeutic alliance between the client and therapist. 

 

  • Whilst the consultation session is charged and is a longer appointment, I am charging the same fee for a follow-on individual or couples therapy session .
