Jonathan Humphreys
Person-centred/humanistic therapistAbout Me
Warm, intuitive and collaborative therapist, specialising in supporting millennial and Gen Z clients with: life transitions, self esteem, loss of meaning or purpose, feeling stuck & the specific challenges of working in the arts & creative industries.
In-person, online and hybrid therapy in London and online sessions across the UK. I see people in-person in Dartmouth Park near Archway N19. My pronouns are he/him.
As a therapist, I increasingly specialise in working with millennial and Gen Z clients, helping them with:
- Life transitions (such as parenthood, career change/redundancy, end of relationship or bereavement)
- Low self worth and self esteem
- Loss of meaning or purpose
- Feeling stuck (in patterns of thought, depression or anxiety; with shame and traumatic memories; in life, career, or relationships)
- The specific challenges of those working in the arts, creative industries or other talent-led fields (particularly perfectionism, work culture, stress, and burnout)
My approach is attentive, calm and transparent, always led by you and your agenda as we unpack the difficulties you are facing. Ultimately, I see our working together as a robust, collaborative dialogue about your situation – a quest we’re on together, through the challenges you’re facing towards a more meaningful life.
By working in a warm, intuitive and collaborative way I help you to discover your own way forward and gain a fresh perspective.
I have worked therapeutically with diverse client groups aged 18 - 70+ on issues including anxiety, depression, low self-worth, critical voice, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, bereavement, social anxiety, burnout, questions of meaning or purpose and major life transitions (such as illness, career change or parenthood).
I have counselled young adults in further and higher education as well as working at St Joseph's Hospice Hackney where I saw clients within the bereavement service for City and Hackney. In addition to counselling clients, I train counsellors.
As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, registered member 400768) I am bound by a strict code of ethics to ensure my clients are kept safe.

Getting started
A good working relationship is at the heart of successful therapy and a key indicator of a successful outcome. It is therefore important for you to find the right match, someone you feel comfortable talking to. I offer a free phone consultation to start the process, which can be booked directly my website. Before this, I will send you a copy of my practice information document which has full practical details about the service I offer.
In the initial phone call I will be interested to know about:
- The issues that have led you to seek support now.
- Any previous experience you have had of counselling or therapy - what has or hasn't been helpful?
- What you are looking for from a counsellor and counselling sessions at this time.
- General questions about health & wellbeing and current support.
- You can ask me anything which is of importance to you in deciding whether you wish to proceed with me.
If after this initial conversation we both agree there is a good possibility that I can offer the support you need, I will suggest that we meet for a full initial session in which we can speak in more detail.
If I do not feel I am the right person to offer you counselling either after our phone call or the initial session I may offer suggestions for alternative referral information or recommendations.
