Harriet is an experienced, creative and approachable Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. She has over 16 years’ experience of working therapeutically with children, young people and families in a variety of settings. For the past 10 years she has worked in specialist NHS CAMHS services in London and currently works in a CAMHS team; a mental health service for children and young people aged 0-18. She is passionate about offering high-quality therapeutic interventions that are tailored to the needs of the individual.
Harriet is experienced in treating children and young people who have a range of mental health difficulties and emotional and behavioural problems. She provides a variety of support such as consultation and assessment in addition to brief, medium and long-term therapy. She offers individual child and parent sessions in addition to family work. Throughout her career Harriet has offered teaching, training and consultation to a wide range of professionals.
Harriet’s therapeutic approach is informed by child development research, neuroscience and attachment theory, which is integrated alongside her psychoanalytic training. She has attended training on mentalisation-based treatment. Harriet is also trained in Story Stem Assessment and Children’s Accelerated Trauma Therapy. She has a special interest in adoption and conducted doctoral research about supervised contact for children and young people who are in care.
