About Me

Are you feeling anxious, heartbroken, confused, stuck or overwhelmed? Perhaps you are trying to keep going after some kind of trauma, and struggling to recover. Or maybe you are going through a painful breakup. Or perhaps you are worried about your child or teen, and feel they need some help with an issue in their life.

I see adults and children from all over Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and beyond, and also offer Zoom sessions for adult clients elsewhere in the UK and overseas. I have been working as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist for over 26 years - both in the NHS and private practice - and as an Executive Coach for over 10 years.

The way that I work is rather different from other therapists, in that I don't offer single sessions or work with people on an ad-hoc basis. Instead I offer bespoke face-to-face and online personal growth programmes of 3, 6 or 12 months’ duration, with the option to continue at the end on a maintenance programme if needed.

My programmes combine the best of traditional approaches to talking therapy and coaching with innovative new techniques, and include an in-depth assessment, a number of 1:1 sessions and a host of extra features to support people between sessions.

The majority of my adult clients are women and include senior executives, business owners, senior health professionals and high profile individuals in the public eye, seeking absolute discretion (entertainers, sportspeople, politicians and media personalities). I also see the wives/partners of such individuals.

My clients are commonly battling anxiety or depression, or are experiencing relationship problems (often a separation or divorce) family problems or bereavement.

I also specialise in working with children and young people from the age of 5-18 who are struggling with any issue that is causing them to feel stressed, unhappy or anxious.

Potential clients are always offered a free 30 minute telephone consultation with me, which can be booked through my website. It’s a chance for you to tell me more about yourself (or your child) and your situation and it enables me to get a sense of you (or your child), what your needs are and how I can serve you best. If we feel like a good fit, I can explain more about the programmes I offer and you can ask me any questions you may have.

My business premises, Sunshine Barn, is a suite of beautiful, private, non-clinical rooms in converted farm outbuildings near Ashbourne. I have a dedicated adults' room, a fully-equipped play therapy room, a waiting room, a treatment room for complementary therapies, toilets, kitchen and large training/group therapy room.  The rooms are fully accessible, and look out onto our private paddock and offer easy access to nature and animals, known to promote feelings of wellbeing.

I have spent 26 years working in my own successful private practice seeing adults and children. I spent 14 years working as a part-time Highly Specialist Child and Adolescent Therapist in the NHS working with children, teenagers and their families within two CAMHS teams. My work has been featured in numerous publications including 'Psychologies' magazine, Staffordshire and Derbyshire lifestyle magazines, professional journals e.g. BACP's Children and Young People's journal and The British Journal of School Nursing. I have also been interviewed several times on BBC radio on issues to do with wellbeing and mental health.
