About Me

I am a registered counsellor with the BACP and in the final stages of completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. As a neurodivergent therapist, I prioritise creating an accepting space and focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship, grounded in trust and support.

My main areas of expertise include working with complex trauma and individuals with learning difficulties, social-emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and neurodiversity, such as autism and ADHD. I also have experience addressing, abuse, OCD, sexual and criminal exploitation, self-esteem, depression, anxiety and PTSD.

I hope to help clients feel empowered, have increased self-awareness, have improved relationships, and enhanced coping skills. Our sessions could be based on exploring the underlying causes of your difficulties, identifying past and current relational patterns or exploring practical tools and strategies to manage distress or challenging situations.

About the sessions

I offer sessions online and outdoors (walk-and-talk) sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10.15am to 9.30pm.

Our first session will be an assessment session, which involves me asking you some information about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy.

If you're interested in walk-and-talk sessions, we'll start with an online meeting to plan things out. We'll talk about where and when to meet, any safety measures we should take, and what you want to get out of our sessions. Following on from this we will have our sessions outdoors. These sessions provide a change of scenery from the typical therapy room, which can feel more relaxed and less intimidating for some clients.

Who I work with

I support a diverse range of clients, this includes:

Children and Adolescents: In these sessions, I employ a variety of age-appropriate therapeutic techniques that allow children and adolescents to express themselves both verbally and non-verbally. The therapeutic relationship provides a space where they can process their emotions and experiences, while also gaining supportive skills and coping mechanisms.

Adults: I collaborate with clients to work towards their therapeutic goals, providing skills and strategies that best support them. Together, we can explore unconscious processes, early relational patterns, and past experiences that shape present-day thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Couples: Sessions can be focused on incorporating tools and strategies for communication, intimacy, and resolving conflicts. We can also explore underlying dynamics that may be contributing to challenges within the relationship.

Families: I adopt a perspective that considers the interconnectedness of family dynamics and the impact of individual behaviours on the family unit as a whole, with an overall aim to facilitate communication, promote understanding, and address patterns that may contribute to conflict or distress.

Therapeutic approaches

Integrative therapy: This brings together elements of different types of therapies, no single approach is used, each person is considered as a whole, and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.

Relational Psychodynamic Therapy: This is a form of therapy that focuses on the relationships between people. It is based on the idea that our relationships with others are shaped by our past experiences and the way we see ourselves. There is a focus on unconscious processes that impact present behaviour, thoughts, and feelings, to enable self-awareness.

Systemic Therapy: This form of therapy looks to address people not only on the individual level but also to identify patterns within an individual's relationships. In this type of therapy, the focus is on how an individual is part of a larger unit or system, for example, a couple, a family, an organisation, or a community.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: This focuses on challenging and changing thoughts and behaviours.

Third-wave CBT approaches: These approaches emphasise; mindfulness, emotions, acceptance, relationships, values and goals.

Person-centred: This is a non-directive approach to talking therapy, with a core focus on the person.

The Rewind Technique for PTSD: This is an intervention that reduces the impact of trauma. The Rewind Technique typically requires one to two sessions and does not require the disclosure of trauma details.
