Emma Downie
Existential psychotherapistAbout Me
Whatever difficulties you find yourself facing, talking to someone may help. Whether it is the past, present or the future, I hope to offer a safe and non-judgemental space where we can explore what’s going on for you.
I work to understand what it’s like to be in your unique situation and how you exist within it, seeking to open up new possibilities for living, with the hope that your life becomes more fulfilling and satisfying. I believe there is no easy and simple solution that can work for everyone, so I aim to make you feel supported and heard by combining warmth, empathy, challenge and curiosity to deepen your understanding of yourself, in the hope that this brings clarity.

Training and qualifications
Having trained integratively, I have knowledge of the psychodynamic, humanistic and existential approaches. I have chosen to work existentially as it aligns with who I am and focuses on the uniqueness of each individual. We will explore how you find yourself now - considering all aspects of your life, thinking about your unique history, present experiences and future aspirations and how all of these influence thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
