About Me

Welcome to my profile page. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (HCPC registered) and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (BABCP accredited). In addition to my private consultancy, I also work as a senior psychologist within a National Health Service providing psychological therapy to adults.

I have a wealth of experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and relationship difficulties for more than 10 years. My doctorate represents the calibre of training standards achieved which included humanistic theories (such as person-centred and transactional analysis), systemic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I have completed further specialist training in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. My experience and training enables me to tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the needs of each individual I work with.

I hold expertise skills in providing evidence based practice in accordance with National Institute of Excellence (NICE) guidelines and the research evidence base for common difficulties experienced such as anxiety and depression.

In addition to offering brief interventions I am also able to offer longer term or open ended psychological therapy. This can be particularly helpful as it lends an individual the time and space to explore difficulties that may be experienced in different relationships or situations encountered in their lives. It can aid personal development, insight and growth through the process of therapy.

My experience includes working within a variety of mental health settings with individuals, couples, families and groups. In these settings I have provided specialist psychology or psychotherapy such as longer term or on-going psychoanalytic psychotherapy, systemic psychotherapy (with couples and families) and shorter termed or brief interventions such as cognitive behavioural therapy.

Additionally I have worked with adolescents in educational settings proving one to one and group therapy as well as support and consultations to parents and staff.I have a particular interest in working with varying presentations of anxiety and depression. I also hold a specialist interest in working with individuals and couples experiencing relationship difficulties as well as those seeking therapy as a form of personal development.

Using evidenced based practice with a focus on the importance of a trusting, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, I can guide an individual or couple through the process of therapy to achieve enhanced well-being, life and relationship satisfaction. I am a dedicated practitioner and am committed to showing genuine concern and support for those in my care.

I am a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and abide by the British Psychological Society (BPS) ethical guidelines.
