About Me

- Not currently available for new clients -

I am a qualified cognitive analytic therapist and EMDR therapist with previous occupational therapy and general nursing training. I also have extensive experience working across NHS-based mental health services for adults and young people.

I incorporate the EMDR therapist model with good results within the CAT framework. In my experience, such fusion is more effective in integrating conscious and unconscious processes, like recognition and making sense of how a person came to be the way they are, and intrusive distressing thoughts or memories,  which can trigger problematic and overwhelming self-states.

In addition, I am trained in MBT, and I have a working knowledge of sensory experiencing, IFS, polyvagal theory, as well as CBT, ACT and DBT models.

I draw on neurobiology to understand trauma and stress responses. I find that these approaches are useful with people on a continuum from adjustment disorders, through mood disorders, all the way to more complex presentations like OCD, PTSD and dissociative disorders.

In therapy, we will think together about relational dynamics and how they can sustain problematic patterns with your family/ social systems. Holding in mind different perspectives in understanding your emotional development and growth offers the depth required to activate stuck or stunted growth by helping you become a more integrated, aware individual, rather than just addressing problems and symptoms. Applying integration principles will nurture your conscious awareness of implicit and explicit roles and intentions within a relational context,  utilising our therapeutic relationship.

I work with approaches evidenced as effective in therapeutic work to enable recovery from problematic patterns and spur personality growth and your resilience and capacity to manage difficulties that may lie ahead.

I aim to instil in you a sense of hope and a greater sense of choice for yourself.

Every person has a right to fulfil their potential and purpose, and I am dedicated to supporting my clients in achieving a better quality of life.

The treatment I offer is personalised to your needs and goals, aiming to provide you with a scaffolding of support for the safe exploration of your inner world, including experiences, which can be described as unmanageable feelings. I deeply believe that we need to be able to "see" ourselves before we can understand ourselves better and allow a process of change to take place.

I will accompany you on the journey of self-discovery by helping you identify and optimise your strengths, as well as helping you to recognise and deconstruct obstructions to your growth and wellness.

I believe that with the right approach and support, a change for the better is always possible. This conviction continues to nurture my enthusiasm and dedication for the work I do.

Please, feel free to contact me for a brief informal conversation.

I offer weekdays evenings appointments.
