About Me

Sometimes life gets really hard - complicated, confusing and painful. You're feeling anxious, down or depressed and you can't work out why. Maybe you do know why, but you've never felt able to speak about the reasons with anyone. The pace of modern life or past experiences can often make you feel that you have to try and deal with your difficulties by yourself, by sweeping them under the carpet or putting on a brave face. Perhaps it has seemed that if you just keep going, one day you’d wake up and your problems will have disappeared - but they haven't. So now you've decided to try something new, to seek some help.

I offer an open, non-judgmental and confidential space to talk about your problems and feelings, and help you understand what's going on. Often these feelings are sub-conscious aspects of your emotional life that are eased by bringing them into awareness. To achieve this I will guide you in exploring your past, examining the present and considering your future - your goals and potential.

My approach is kind, warm and sincere so you can explore your difficulties feeling safe, respected and at a pace that's right for you. Sometimes I’ll be more candid and direct to help you get below the surface and make sense of things that may be holding you back - but I will always be on your side.

As well as talking through your issues there are other techniques I can use, which are effective at helping you understand your problems better, such as: working with images, guided meditation and mindfulness.

Training and qualifications

I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, from the Psychosynthesis Trust, in London. Psychosynthesis is an integrative style of therapy, meaning I can utilise a range of recognised disciplines to better assist you and your problems.

A key principle of Psychosynthesis suggests that the symptoms of our problems can indicate a deeper meaning or potential trying to emerge in our lives. Our work together will try to discover what that might be. To achieve this I offer a focused approach for a specific issue in short-term work or we can go into more depth for work in the longer term.

My training is fully accredited by BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), adhering to their Ethical Framework and therefore I am a Registered Member, fully insured and in monthly supervision.
