Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
Please note I am currently working remotely. I have undertaken additional training (Certificate in Counselling Online with OCST), to ensure I am working safely online, as your welfare is important to me.
A warm welcome. I am a UKCP Registered Integrative Psychotherapist with a background in psychology. I have sixteen years of experience working within the mental health field. I have worked in a diverse range of adult services, including primary and secondary mental health services within the NHS, in private hospitals, the voluntary sector and in private practice. Life’s challenges really can offer unique opportunities for growth. However, sometimes it is hard to make sense of what is happening to us, or something causes us to re-evaluate our lives. The Coronavirus has challenged us all in different ways and it has been hard to support ourselves and our mental health. At these times we might feel we would like to talk confidentially to an independent person.
Acknowledging our need for a counsellor can be quite a step, particularly as many of us value our ability to work things out for ourselves. Choosing a therapist can be quite a daunting experience. My approach is rooted in my personal experience that therapy can change lives.
Areas I work with
I work to support people to explore difficult thoughts, memories, behaviour, feelings and experiences within a confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship. You might be coping with life changes forced upon you by the pandemic, relationship problems or bereavement or the effects of earlier trauma or abuse. You may have feelings of being overwhelmed by grief, anxiety, depression, sadness or low self-esteem.
I have a particular interest in bereavement work and have ten years of experience supporting the bereaved including people bereaved by suicide, murder and those who have experienced the sudden, traumatic death of a loved one. During the pandemic I have been working as an online bereavement counsellor for a leading National Charity. I also supervise volunteer counsellors in a Community Bereavement Service. If you have been bereaved by Covid-19 I would be pleased to speak to you.
I offer a twenty minute, free telephone consultation to begin to explore your requirements. If we both feel comfortable working together and I think I can be of help to you, then we can discuss a way forward. I am currently offering online sessions by Zoom, both short and longer-term on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.
I have experience of teaching Diploma Level counselling training and welcome enquiries from trainee counsellors for counselling or supervision.
