About me
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist in Private Practice and with a lot of experience within the NHS, Charity sector and Higher Education. I describe my specialist expertise below, but Therapy is for everyone: I strive to create a safe space for all adults women, men, non-binary, LGBT+ or straight who may be struggling to be understood and feel they need to be heard. Each person is an individual, and so our unique therapeutic relationship will be important in allowing you to express yourself honestly without any fear of judgement. I describe myself as working in an "Integrative" way, meaning that I take thoughts from a wide range of thinking and research linked to therapy and philosophy, in order to find a way of working that will suit you as an individual. I specialise in dealing with the developing impacts of chronic illness and disabilities on people directly affected by them, or their carers. Life-long conditions or newly-acquired disabilities are not well catered for within society and life can be difficult to navigate whilst dealing with these disadvantages. I also have a lot of experience dealing with bereavement and grief, following the loss of something important a loved person or pet, a job or a way of life/imagined future . The associated feelings, such as sadness, confusion, anger or anxiety can be overwhelming, but we can work together to honour those feelings find a way to accept them and live with them flexibly. Counselling and psychotherapy can help with problems such as depression and anxiety, anger, addiction, work or family-related stress/trauma, or the loss of a loved one. Give me a call; we can explore your own path to feeling better.
