Catherine Harris
Human Givens therapistAbout Me
I offer solution-focused treatment for a range of anxiety and depressive conditions. You might be struggling to cope with with panic attacks, a phobia, or a traumatic experience. Whatever the case, or cause, we will focus on beginning the process of recovery and helping you to get your life back on track. As part of my philosophy, I try to work with you in as few sessions as possible.
About Human Givens therapy
Human Givens therapy is based on a holistic, scientific model of human well-being, which draws on a range of proven therapeutic methods (including cognitive, behavioural, interpersonal therapies and hypnotherapy). This includes a safe, non-intrusive approach to processing traumatic events and phobias.
Both in private practice and in online sessions, I aim to create a safe, comfortable, and confidential space within which clients are first, able to explore what may be triggering painful thoughts, feelings, or unhelpful habits and then to craft a path towards recovery. Whilst it’s important to understand how the past informs one’s present experience, people are encouraged to engage with the small, positive steps they can engage with - straight away - to help them to regain and sustain emotional health into the future.

Client feedback
"After suffering with severe anxiety, I was willing to try anything to change my life. I didn't really expect the treatment to be as effective it was, and the techniques Cathy gave me to cope with panic attacks and negative thoughts made an enormous difference. I was able to move on with my life and even get through an intense interview and be offered my perfect job, without falling apart as I would have previously".
"After I experienced some traumatic and unexpected events in my life a friend suggested I saw Cathy. I finally agreed and have not regretted it. I immediately felt comfortable and was able to talk openly with no judgment or pressure. I went feeling desperate, emotional, and confused. I found the sessions solution-focused and immediately felt more positive and clearer. After only a few sessions I have developed advanced coping skills and some helpful breathing techniques for anxiety. I feel more resilient and able to face adversity. I am very grateful for these sessions; they have had a huge positive impact on my quality-of-life day to day and I believe will so for years to come".
