About Me

·   What would it be like to wake up in the morning and everything was better?

h   The right help can realise that dream but that first step towards getting help can be daunting. You may not know what to expect. So I do my best to try to put you at your ease when we first meet. I offer relaxed practical, non judgemental sessions.  If you are local to me (I'm based Guildford, Surrey) I can offer "Walk and Talk" sessions (weather permitting) - some clients find this less formal, especially to begin with, and enjoy the fresh air.

T    There is a  saying "All the answers are already inside of me"   I believe that there is little more powerful message than the voice inside you but we may not always hear it.  My clients are the experts in their lives - not me. They are in the driving seat - I'm the passenger guiding my client through their journey.  This sums up how I feel about my work.   I aim to help the client find their own answers.

I     I am a fully qualified and BACP accredited counsellor with over 20 years experience.

I specialise in trauma related issues such as domestic violence, sexual abuse and post traumatic stress. I have extensive experience working with different cultures having worked with a rehabilitation service for traumatised people from overseas. I work well with interpreters.

I have worked within the NHS (IAPT) offering time limited therapy.

I am trained in the psychodynamic method of therapy which is a mixture of psychoanalytic approach and counselling. I have since added to my skills, adopting a more holistic approach and tailoring my therapy to the needs of my client.  It can be helpful to work with a client's past but it may be that they just prefer to work with the present - which is equally valid.

WHAT DOES COUNSELLING OFFER

The opportunity to speak to a professional within a safe place who will not judge you.

Gaining an understanding of the patterns that lead to negative thoughts and behaviours which prevent you from living your life as you would like.

·    Support to help you cope with your life and gain control.

·    Development of ways to make changes.

I offer a 20 free of charge initial phone call where you can ask me questions and I can find out how best I can help you. No obligation to continue.

I    I look forward to meeting you.
