Stella Stathi
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello and warm welcome to my page,
My name is Stella and I am a qualified, experienced Jungian/Somatic Psychotherapist and Coach, Women’s Eating Psychology, Eating Disorders & Body-Image Specialist and Embodiment Teacher, in private practice. I hold a Masters degree in Integrative/Jungian Psychotherapy & Healing Practice and have also been trained in different disciplines of Somatic/Body Psychotherapy.
I specialise in the treatment of Food, Weight and Body-related difficulties, including eating disorders (anorexia, orthorexia, bulimia, binge-eating), disordered eating (chronic dieting, yo-yo dieting, emotional eating, weight loss, exercise obsession) and body-image issues (body dissatisfaction, body shame, body dysmorphic disorder), and am extremely passionate about helping women heal their relationship with food and their body, once and for all, from the inside out, so that they can live a truly free and enjoyable life, in a body they love and appreciate.
My approach is integrative and holistic, aiming to incorporate all levels of your experience -physical, mental, emotional and spiritual- and the whole of who you are, as a person, and my main influences have been: Jungian Psychology, Art and Movement Therapy, Mind-Body Medicine, Mindfulness, Feminine/Body-based Spirituality and Energy Healing.
My aim is to help you stop fighting the symptom (the food, the weight, the inches..) indefinitely, and rather discover and heal the real, underlying, inner root-causes of your Food, Weight & Body-Image difficulties -which is the only route to true, lasting transformation and freedom.
I work through a combination of Psychotherapy (open-ended, slower-paced, in-depth work, focusing on your history and aiming at resolving the deeper root causes of your food, weight and body-image difficulties, coming from your past), Coaching (solution-focused, intensive work, aiming at helping you deal with your day-to-day, food & body difficulties more effectively, by focusing on developing alternative, healthy coping skills, tools and techniques) and Healing (complementary, body-based/spiritually-oriented work, aiming at energetically supporting your process, enhancing your well-being throughout and helping you make meaning out of your journey, on a deeper level), as, through my years of experience, this combination has proven to be most effective in the treatment of Eating & Body-Image challenges.
In our initial assessment, we will discuss your story, needs and desires in great depth, I will share with you more about how I can support you and answer any questions you may have, and we will then mutually decide whether we would like to start working together on a regular basis.
Personal Journey
My deep interest in Eating & Body-Image Psychology was ignited by my personal experience with different forms of eating disorders, in my late teens. Following my recovery and having gained an understanding of the issue from the inside, I became passionate about this challenging, yet incredibly meaningful area, and went on to train professionally in the treatment of such conditions. Being aware of how complex an issue eating disorders can be, I studied various disciplines and different approaches, with the intention to obtain the skills and knowledge that would enable me to provide as an all-inclusive and complete treatment as possible. As a result, I am able to offer you both my academic knowledge and professional experience, as well as the many practical skills and insights that have come out of my own journey to recovery.
I am wholeheartedly committed to providing you with a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive environment, in which true healing and transformation can take place, and I would be honoured to facilitate your journey to Food & Body Freedom.
