Sarah Weaver
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
We all have times in life when things seem to get on top of us. We may feel confused, anxious, or depressed. Sometimes it just feels like we are going round in circles, getting nowhere in particular. Having someone to talk to can lighten the load and this is often easier with someone other than family or friends.
How it all works and how it can help
My belief is that the process of being listened to in a non- judgmental way may offer a sense of freedom to explore parts of yourself or your life that you previously may not have felt safe enough to venture into. I will work with you, offering both compassion and calm, guiding and gently probing so that a new light may shine. This will all be held together by the sense of security you may feel from having a safe space (the room where we agree to meet) and clear boundaries (a regular time slot that every week). Having this stability, in what can sometimes feel a bit like a whirlwind, can often make a difference.
Sometimes this involves looking into the past to see what patterns have evolved and how they are currently manifesting themselves. It can trigger explorations into areas you may not have considered.
In other cases the work revolves around the particular issue that you have come to seek help around. For this reason the work that we do is centred around your needs and expectations.
My way of working
I am a Humanistic and Integrative counsellor. That basically means that I hold the belief that you are the expert of your own life. Given the right conditions you have the ability to make changes and to grow and thrive. I will travel alongside you in your journey, offering you the sense that you are not alone. In order to support the work we do together I will incorporate a range of different theoretical frameworks. At the core of this is the healing relationship.
Areas I have worked with in the past:
Addictions,
Body image,
Low self esteem,
Depression,
Anxiety,
Parenting,
Body image,
Relationships,
Transgender,
Loss,
Location
I am based in two areas in Bristol:
Sycamore House in Kingswood, a tranquil room with parking and easy transport links

Fees
I charge £50.00per 50 minute session.
When you make contact, I will endeavor to get back you as quickly as possible as I am aware that it can be a big step in itself to reach out for help. Between us we then try to arrange a time to meet up to discuss your needs. The first session will be an introductory assessment session to get a feel for how it might be to work together. If we would like to continue we will agree a day and time to meet on a weekly basis. This is then the beginning of your journey to self- discovery.
