I have worked in over 40 services in the NHS, private and voluntary/charitable sectors. Having qualified from UCL in 2008 as a clinical psychologist I have spent the last 15 years in practice working in brain injury, specialist adolescent forensics, psychiatry, autism, ADHD, neuropsychiatry, challenging behaviour/neurobehaviour, and deliberate self harm/personality services. I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and sit as a member on their Section of Sexualities, the Practice Guidelines Review Group and the Mental Capacity Advisory Board. I have undertaken high profile medico-legal cases and since 2021 have been a listed expert on the General Medical Council's rosta of experts. I also have a background in vocational rehabilitation, return to work, and clinical hypnosis. Recently I have contributed a chapter to the book Systemic Approaches to Brain Injury Treatment: Navigating Contemporary Practice (Routledge) and regularly contribute to British Psychological Society media and publications. I regularly teach in university masters and doctoral students in CBT and counselling psychology. As a gay cis-gendered man, and a proud trans ally, I interact regularly with the LGTBQ+ communities, and have provided expert testimony on the standards of private treatment of trans youth for fitness to practice tribunals.
I currently run two private psychology practices www.rapsychology.co.uk and www.ownyouradhd.co.uk.
