Pinar Mcgivern
Mindfulness psychotherapistAbout Me
I am an experienced UKCP-registered psychotherapist, offering mindfulness-based psychotherapy to couples and individuals.
I have an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute and a Diploma in Transpersonal Couples and Intimate Relationship Therapy. I have worked with a diverse range of individuals and couples for over a decade.
Before training in psychotherapy, I did a degree in Film Studies, worked in TV and film, but then became disillusioned with the work I was doing. At the same time, I developed an interest in meditation, began exploring mindfulness, and studied Tibetan Buddhism in its traditional setting in Nepal for several years.
This led me to train in mindfulness-based psychotherapy.
I am passionate about supporting my clients finding their own voice and pace in difficulty. We live in an increasingly uncertain world, so may be facing existential questions or lose a sense of purpose. Our relationships sometimes feel fragile. I believe that letting go of old patterns takes courage and mindfulness teaches us how to find our own strength in the midst of chaos.
I offer in-depth, long- and short-term relational psychotherapy, both online and face to face. I integrate Focusing, Internal Family System and Compassionate Inquiry into my work. In simpler terms, I aim to develop authentic relationships with my clients, empower them to trust their own sense of embodied presence, and so address any challenges they are facing.
