Peter Davies
Psychodynamic counsellorAbout Me
Hi - I'm Pete. I'm 63 years of age, and a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, with a lot of hours and experience under my belt. I also use person-centred/humanistic therapies within my practice. I am a member of BACP, and adhere to their ethical framework.
Prior to counselling, my working career has been in the charitable sector, and includes management experience in homelessness, offending/recidivism, mental health and corporate management. I've worked in diverse fields and environments, and, one way and another, have worked with, and supported many, many individuals and crises' situations, and trauma within my life.
All of us experience trauma, and hard times during our lifetime, and I am no exception - thus, I'm understanding, empathetic, patient. I will work at your pace, providing the time and space you need, without any kind of pressure. I'm told I am innovative in my practice, and that I "think outside the box". I recognise that telling someone else about traumatic, painful, confusing etc experiences in your life is not easy and can take time, and trust. Yet, past events from our lives can re-surface, and impact on our current life, situation or relationships. Perhaps that is how you're feeling right now?
I'm happy for you to come to me, or if you prefer I can see you at a location of your choice. I can offer you 1:1 therapy, or by phone, or email. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. By nature, I am calm, and with a dry sense of humour. I am well travelled, well organised, and have a lot of life experience, together with professional experience
The coronavirus pandemic, lockdown restrictions, and being apart from our loved ones, and normal routines, is causing anxiety levels to rise universally right. Are you recognising that in yourself? And perhaps worried it could overwhelm you, or raise your blood pressure - if so, I'd be happy to help you with those issues.
I'm also mindful that for some people, being "forced" suddenly to be stuck at home can be difficult and may lead to relationships becoming strained, difficult, and potentially violent. Please don't be afraid to seek help for those areas of your life, and do please contact me.
On the reverse side of that coin, I know many essential workers, particularly in the health and social care sectors, are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, tired and need to offload to someone - is that you right now, and is that getting harder each day or each shift. Don't suffer in silence; contact me, and I won't charge you, to help you get through this surreal and stressful period.
