About Me

Perhaps you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed, or struggling to make sense of your life, whether it's because of a recent event, or current world events, or there's a build up of issues and feelings over time that are getting in the way of your relationships and and your work. Perhaps you don't feel like talking to friends or family about what's bothering you, as you don't want to burden them. Maybe you've been trying to cope and "get on with it", but that's not working. In my experience, deciding to get curious about what's going on, face some challenging issues and think about how you'd like things to be different, with someone who will listen without judgement, can be life changing.

I’m a qualified Integrative therapist, trained in a number of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic, body and contemporary relational psychotherapy. At the heart of what I do is to work with you to help you recognise and challenge unhelpful patterns and behaviours, some of which you're not even aware of, that could be hampering your life.

I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a psychotherapy process that enables you to heal from symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences, which can range from one off events to a pattern of emotional disturbances that have been affecting you since childhood. I am trained in CBT for Insomnia, so I can help with practical techniques if you have difficulty sleeping.

My first session

I appreciate that coming to therapy can be scary, particularly if you haven't been before. You may not even know where to start to talk about what's bothering you. It's my job to help make it easy for you to open up, by asking questions about your life, your family and your work, what you want to get out of therapy, basically getting to know you. Please email me to arrange an initial session. In this session, we can explore what's bringing you to therapy, a little about your background and the practicalities of working together. I am here to help and support you, and this initial meeting is for you to see whether you feel comfortable talking with me.

Training and qualifications

I hold a Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the BACP and UKCP.

Prior to becoming a counsellor and therapist, I worked in advertising and marketing and so have experience and understanding of working in a highly challenging, time pressured environment with the stress of deadlines and anxieties that can arise. I have experience working within companies as a stress counsellor and at St Mary's Paddington, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a staff counsellor, dealing with stress, both personal and related to the workplace.

I am trained in CBT for Insomnia and sleep problems. If this insomnia is a persistent problem for you, we can work specifically to help you manage this issue, either individually or in a group (which can be supportive and effective), for up to 5 sessions.

I am a recognized Private Practitioner with insurers: Aviva, AXA, Aetna, Cigna and WPA.
