Cognitive behaviour hypnotherapistAbout Me
I will try to help you to find ways to listen to, respect and understand what’s going on inside you. This is why I named my website Inner Kindness Therapy.
I practice cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, usually with a big focus on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), as I find that these approaches work well together.
"Cognitive" focuses on our thoughts and mind patterns, "behavioural" focuses on our actions, and hypnotherapy is a wonderful tool that can be used to reinforce new learnings and desired behaviour patterns (alert: hypnotherapy is not a magic wand!).
ACT uses metaphorical exercises and teaches skills to help us see our problems and challenges in a different way. Some of these exercises can appear gentle, even playful on the surface, yet they can bring about quite dramatic shifts and powerful transformation.
I also practice IFS, Internal Family Systems therapy. IFS suggests that we all have a multiplicity of inner “parts” in our psyche led by a core Self. Many of these parts are protective or defensive, and wounded. They often get “stuck” at a very young age. IFS therapy helps people access and connect with their core Self, and connect with and heal the wounded parts.
Before we start working together, as well as asking you about the issue that you want to address, I will discuss the way that I work and ask you which approaches you are happy using. I will only work with therapeutic approaches that you feel comfortable with.
