About Me

I am an experienced HPCP registered Arts therapist with over twenty years experience. I am also a CAST trained clinical supervisor. I specialise in working with children and young people 3-24 years of age (I will refer to this age group as YP for the purposes of this profile) Having  a passion for creative arts therapies for young people In 2013  I set up my business Treehouse . Treehouse provided Arts therapy services in Gloucestershire to YP’s Treehouse has provided Services within social services, adoption agencies ,Harrow Horizons London,  primary schools, pupil referral units, as well as a private referrals.   My business Treehouse has now relocated to Essex.

I have a sound knowledge of psychoanalytical theory, trauma and attachment.  In addition to the creative arts therapy sessions, I provide support and parenting advice to parents which might include understanding the reasons behind certain child behaviours and learning parenting strategies.

I have experience of working with YP with a wide range of issues including depression, bereavement, loss, anger, low self esteem, anxiety, as well those YP’s with autism, ADHD and sensory processing difficulties, self harm , eating disorders and social anxiety.

When working with YP I work in an integrative way that is combining humanistic, Rogerian approach together with a more psychanalytical way.  I provide a safe and empowering space for the young person to explore at their own pace what is troubling them and support then in finding solutions.  I find YP’s tend to prefer to engage creatively in the sessions, although there is always an option to talk alongside the creative activity or instead if that is their preference.

Creative Arts therapy can be an effective way for the YP to explore, express and understand their feelings and experiences and therefore gain mastery over them  as well as increase their resilience.

I offer a variety of creative ways to work including art, play, music, movement and story making.

I am presently offering face to face sessions in Maldon.
