Mellissa HamleyIntegrative counsellor
I work in an integrative approach which means that I believe no single approach can treat each client in all situations. Instead I believe that counselling techniques need to be tailored to each individual person, their needs and personal circumstances.
I utilise the underpinning principles of the Person-Centred Approach. These are:
Empathy - where I put myself in your shoes to understand your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Congruence - being genuine with you.
Unconditional Positive Regard - I provide a space where you will not be judged or criticised.
I can offer you a safe and non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. I sometimes use creative ways to help you (such as using drawings), but only if you want to.
As well as working independently I also volunteer as a counsellor with Mind, working with a variety of client issues.
OnlineI also provide my services online.
