About me

I specialise in assisting adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression and anger. These issues commonly show themselves through difficulties in relationships within family, social situations or work, and there is often a feeling of being caught in a web of emotions and behaviours that is intractable.   My training and background allows me to help you untangle the strands of what is going on and steadily regain a sense of yourself as a whole and healthy human being.   When you enter my practice room you are entering a space that is confidential and non judgemental. This allows you to relax, to be yourself and explore the issues that are causing distress. Unlike in many other areas of life, the therapist is not an 'expert'. In the therapeutic process you are the only expert on you. The skill of the therapist lies not in fixing your problems but in journeying with you in your own discovery, helping you to see what is there and perhaps has been there all along.   I believe it helps if the therapist has some experience of what it is like to experience mental distress, and I have had my own struggle and journey with this - particularly with depression as a young man.   Ultimately it is you who will make the changes within. Once you have seen the patterns, there is no going back. The solutions tend to offer themselves, and the rest is up to you. With the clarity that comes from this process you can once again cope with stress, enjoy home and work relationships, and feel a renewed sense of yourself and purpose in life.

Fees

Fee structure

My standard fee is £60 per session. For a long time however, I have been aware that people on very low incomes find regular therapy out of their reach. In this sense therapy can be seen as largely for the well-off. I would like to do something about this, and am introducing a tiered pricing structure to allow for at least some diversity of income amongst people seeking therapy. My aim is to invite those on higher incomes to pay a higher rate, which will hopefully not create hardship for them, but make them feel good about helping those on lower incomes access much needed therapy. Each session paid at a higher rate will directly offset the fee of someone receiving therapy at a reduced rate. FEES: Standard fee: £60 per session. Equalising fee: £75* per session. Please note there is no obligation to contribute beyond the standard fee.  Concessionary fee: £45/35**per session. * This is the suggested amount for the equalising fee. You are free to choose your own rate. **I am currently able to offer 2 spaces per week at £45 per session for ongoing therapy. I am also able to offer 2 spaces per week at a reduced concessionary rate of £35 per session for a maximum of 20 sessions. I will not be ‘means testing’ anyone, this system will be based on honesty and trust.
