About Me

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and consider me as your therapist. I promise you a full, inclusive immersion into the world of counselling where you will be safe to explore any and all of your life's events at your own pace.

I cover many areas of therapeutic distress and have built up huge experience and knowledge across many disciplines.  I work frequently with issues such as Anxiety, Self-Esteem, Depression, Relationship Issues, Addiction, plus quite a few more.

I specialise in Existential themes (Loss of Meaning, Isolation, Death/Bereavement) which can appear in a variety of issues and at any age. My practice is welcoming, safe and set in a relaxed atmosphere.  I have the privilege of welcoming clients from a range of age groups, genders and beliefs.  I am passionate about men's emotional health and how this translates into the inter and intrapersonal relationships for them.

Please feel free to enquiry about any other area of interest that you may feel that you would like to discuss as I have trained and worked in many other areas.

I am a registered member of the BACP and have a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy qualification. Since qualifying as a counsellor I have added many other approaches and techniques to my practice including relationship dynamics, mental health and bereavement. Counselling is my passion and it is a pleasure to meet every person that plucks up the courage to walk through my door. Make no mistake, I understand the courage and bravery it takes to come and see someone like me and it is this respect for a person’s desire to understand themselves that drives me on to provide the best therapeutic experience that a person can experience.

I work in private practice and am qualified in a variety of different approaches to therapy including Person Centred, CBT, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Existential.

My Approach

If you have never experienced counselling/therapy before or have stepped back in after a few years break you will find a warm, approachable therapist, able to put you at ease and only challenge your fears when you are ready and able.

I favour an integrated approach to therapy, meaning I have trained across the board in many different approaches. I have a leaning towards existential themes as I believe they are running through most of our life's issues, from relationships to identity issues, addiction to isolation, depression to loss and grief. I complement my private practice by working for a charity that assists young people and families with substance misuse issues.

I can provide therapy both on a one to one or couples basis. The client decides the approach we take in sessions not I, and we work collaboratively to achieve our aim.

Other Experience

Children, Young Persons and Family Practitioner for a support service that provides information, advice and help to children and young people up to the age of 21 who are living with or affected by drug or alcohol issues.  I aim to support people to make lasting changes to their lives.

I am also a Counselling Tutor at an Adult Education college where I teach Counselling Skills Level 1-3 and Therapeutic Counselling - Level 4. This enables me to train students who are at the beginning of their journey to becoming counsellors and therapists. This role not only enables me to pass on my knowledge but it keeps me up to date with changing ethics and laws in the counselling world. It is great to see the new wave of therapists coming through and being part of this.

I also run short courses on Understanding Depression; Introduction to Mindfulness; Positive Psychology; Mental Health Awareness; Understanding Addiction; Steps to Wellbeing; Understanding self-harm; Introduction to Psychology etc.
