I am a trained Integrative Therapist working with individual adults and couples ranging in age from teenagers to the elderly. My integrative approach combines an empathic, non-judgmental attitude with relevant analytic theory, drawing from both traditional and modern techniques.
For many years I have worked at a community-based counselling service where I have engaged with a broad range of clients from both rural and urban environments as well as with clients that have international, peripatetic or military lifestyles.
My role as a therapist is that of a fellow explorer, aiding clients in their quest to deepen their self-awareness, judge themself less harshly and broaden their self-assessment. As every individual is unique, I believe that no single approach suits every client. I endeavour to meet each client exactly where they are at when they arrive for therapy and I tailor my integrative approach to that client’s needs.
Over the course of therapy, I will share ideas based on analytic theory that are appropriate to the clients’ experience, which can then serve as useful tools for further understanding. During sessions, I will also reflect back impressions or insights I glean from the client so that they may consider what resonates as insightful or helpful. Seeing oneself through a therapist’s eyes can provide a broader and more benevolent lens through which one can judge oneself less harshly and more comprehensively. Gaining a broader self-acknowledgement can in turn release one's potential to find deeper personal fulfilment
