Louise Harris
Integrative therapistAbout Me
I work collaboratively with you to discover which way of working best suits your current needs.
Within the confidential space, you can feel able to explore your difficulties and begin to increase your self-understanding in order to bring change.
I was trained as a humanistic counsellor. I am non-judgmental and the core of my practice is that I provide a friendly, down-to-earth safe space. I provide empathy and unconditional acceptance.
I draw on knowledge of various approaches to help reduce your psychological distress and enhance well-being. I'm able to bring in elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in a client-centred way. Transactional Analysis (TA), varied Humanistic theories, guided visualisations and The Rewind Technique.
I believe that giving advice is not fulfilling, as being told what to do can start from a young age. This can be damaging and cause confusion as to who you really are and affect life choices.
Not only do I have continuous personal development (training), but I feel that the client-counsellor relationship is vitally important. As many studies show that this is a major factor in the client's autonomy. You are the key to knowing whether a counsellor is right for you.
I have worked across children centres, an addiction rehabilitation centre, at Harley Street and Liverpool Street in London and in Tunbridge Wells and Rochester in Kent. However, I am working remotely offering video and telephone sessions Monday to Friday.
I have run Skype and telephone sessions for more accessible therapy as an addition to my practice since 2016. I am not able to update the calendar on this directory on a weekly basis, so please do message me for availability.
I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have.
My Experience
Working on a one-to-one basis with a range of issues at various practices. Some of the issues brought to therapy range from: Anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, panic attacks, PTSD, depression, bariatric surgery, substance misuse and addiction, self-harm, stress, low self-esteem and confidence, postnatal depression, eating disorders, relationship and family issues, affairs and betrayal, sexual and physical abuse, flashbacks, trauma, dissociation, personality Disorders, loss and bereavement.
There can be many layers within the counselling process – no matter what the presenting issue. Healing can develop from much deeper within.
Regular reviews are carried out throughout the counselling process to see how the experience is and if anything can be changed.
I've worked across varied locations with adults within schools and substance misuse and addiction before setting up self-employment across varied locations across Kent and London.
