Laura Martin
Gestalt psychotherapistAbout Me
Are you feeling low, stuck or overwhelmed and looking for support? Perhaps you have managed okay until now in your life, or maybe you have been struggling alone with difficult feelings for a long time. Psychotherapy can help you to understand yourself better and experiment with different ways of relating to yourself and your world.
I’ve been in practice since 2017 and fully qualified as a UKCP accredited psychotherapist in July 2022. I work with people with a wide range of difficulties and situations, and have particular experience working with clients struggling to cope with loss and grief, and university students struggling with mental health & wellbeing.
My approach is Gestalt, which means as well as talking about your past and current life, I’ll encourage you to stay with your experience in the moment as you share with me. I’ll focus on what’s happening for you physically as well as your thoughts and feelings. I’ll often explore ways to help you get more in contact with your feelings as so often depression and anxiety are a result of a long history of suppressing emotions. I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship, and it is through sharing yourself with someone you feel safe with that difficult feelings become more manageable and new choices become available.
The first step is to meet me for an initial assessment to see if we might be a good fit.
