About me

Hello The areas I work with and have experience in the most are anxiety, anger, bereavement, low mood/depression, lack of motivation, relationship issues, work/employment issues and stress. The way I work is to create a safe environment where you don't feel judged and you feel able to talk about the problems in your life. You are at the centre of the process and you control where the therapy takes us. I can offer suggestions, exercises and coping strategies alongside listening but it is always your choice if you want this from me and whether or not you do any of what I may send you.  Therapy is not only me listening to your problems; it can include setting goals you want to achieve through therapy, making positive life changes, finding new ways to do things, finding ways to make life more manageable and attempting to make the issues in your life better. If you are interested in speaking to me, I offer a free 15 minute phone call where we can discuss your issues in more detail, look at goals you might want to set, you can ask any questions you might have and you can get a feel for if you think we would be compatible or not.  Experience: I have worked with the Samaritans in the past as a Listening Volunteer for 2 years (2014-2016). In this time i built a foundation of listening skills, empathy and the ability to be non-judgemental, mostly with people who were in crisis, suicidal or distressed in some way. In the past i have also worked as a Befriending Volunteer for Mind (2016). As well as my own private practise i currently work for a non-profit organisation called Open Minds as a paid Counsellor working with adults and as an Emotional Resilience Mentor (a role in which i provide short term mentoring to help people build emotional resilience who have attempted suicide in a 12 month period). I qualified as a Counsellor in 2018. I also work as a self employed Counsellor for Mind.
