Hi, I am Dr Kelly Dickson, and I work as an integrative psychotherapist, counsellor, coach, and academic, I am currently working online via an encrypted therapy platform and drawing on evidence-based approaches to support people navigate the current crisis and explore how it might be impacting their existing mental health issues and immediate environment.
During this current crisis and any other time, I have always found that finding a therapist you feel able to talk to and understood by is key to a successful therapeutic experience. I am a down-to-earth, sensitive and non-judgmental integrative psychotherapist working with a range of issues. Ideally, therapy is a collaborative partnership and my style is active and empowering. I see you as the 'expert' in your life and myself as the 'expert' on therapeutic interventions. Together we focus on utilising your strengths and fostering insight and awareness in a safe and confidential environment. I love my work and look forward to helping you improve your mental health and wellbeing
I have experience working with people struggling with a range of issues, including relationships difficulties, career concerns, stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, narcissist abuse, trauma, chronic pain and LGBTQ issues. I also work with more subtle concerns, such as finding meaning, spirituality, and other existential or self-identity related questions.
I help people improve the quality of their lives by promoting self-awareness and understanding, and by identifying and addressing any unhelpful behavioural patterns or self-defeating attitudes, thoughts/beliefs. I practice from a non-discriminatory stance and reflect on how we are influenced/shaped by age, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, dis/ability, sexuality etc.
