Transactional analysis psychotherapistAbout Me
Hi and welcome to my profile.
I am an experienced and approachable psychotherapist and counsellor. I have worked with adults and young people for over seven years and trained as a psychotherapist four years ago.
People come to see a psychotherapist or counsellor for many varied reasons and at a different times in their life, so taking that first step can be daunting. You may be experiencing a difficult time in your life and are feeling stuck, thinking about the past or worrying about the future. You may want to find out more about yourself, why you react to certain triggers or how do relationships keep turning out the same way. Perhaps you are hoping to make some changes in your life with regards to work, relationships or school. A psychotherapist can make a profound difference in this journey and can be very beneficial.
I am committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. With the increasing demands in our busy lives we can easily numb ourselves, distract or push away how we are really feeling or bury events that have happened that need to be processed. We do this to get through the every day but if left continually it can lead to anxiety, depression and self destructive patterns of behaviour. Friends and family can be an enormous support but at times it is appropriate to turn to a trained psychotherapist or counsellor. I aim to work in a holistic manner incorporating mind, body and spirit to feel whole again
I offer psychotherapy and counselling to help clients become more self-aware and have the capability to think and feel emotions with clarity and understanding. Counselling is used to help people come to terms with any problems they are facing, with the ultimate aim of overcoming them and psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods to help a person notice and bring into awareness unhelpful patterns in their life that were formed in their childhood and to change those behaviours and transactions with people.
I believe each person I see is an individual so the therapeutic approach will be tailored to your personality and presenting need. But the most important part I feel is the bond and attachment created between the therapist and the client, between you and me. This is built with you and is the most important factor in effecting positive change. It is built on non-judgement and with a real understanding of the presenting issues and your history. I believe it to be an equal relationship where each individual brings their own expertise, you are the expert on you, and we work together on a journey to effect positive change for you. Therapy will be led by you within a safe environment so difficulties can be worked through with care and always confidential.
As well as my own private practice I am the school counsellor at Bohunt Secondary School in Horsham. I have worked in a sixth form college with students aged 16-19 and have a wealth of experience with adolescents and young people from dealing with cyber bullying to anxiety to exam stress. I have also worked in a substance misuse centre alongside the concerned others of addicts to help them work through the pain of seeing a loved one who is suffering and how to carve their path out in life.
I have a special interest in anxiety disorders. I work with clients to help them figure out where their anxiety has come from, what their triggers are and then work on strategies to overcome them. I find that many clients have thought there is something wrong with them until we explore together the reasons, life events and biology of the brain that has bought them to this point - the understanding of all these brings relief and a way forward with hope. It does not have to be this way and there is a different path to choose.

Fees
The fee for each session is £55 and £60 for under 18 and they are usually weekly.
This will include the initial session.
At the moment I can offer face to face, online, Walk & Talk or via telephone - whatever you feel more comfortable with.
If I see a young person under 16 I will need to see a parent or carer within the initial session but after that the sessions will be confidential subject to the terms below.
Young people aged 16-18 do not need parental permission but I do encourage their involvement if possible unless it is not in the interest of the young person.
The fee can be paid by cash at the beginning or end of the session or BACS transfer that I kindly ask to be transferred before the session begins.
