About me
Hello, I'm Joanne, a counsellor and trauma therapist, working in this field since 2014. My approach is integrative, drawing on various therapeutic models and pathways for change, to explore your past, present and future. My counselling service can help you with life events including depression, childhood adversity, trauma, anxiety, burnout, PTSD, panic attacks, bereavement, relationship issues and most life issues that we face in our lives. When you're choosing a counsellor, as well as experience and qualifications, it's very important that you find someone who you have a connection with as you're far more likely to progress and recover and have the motivation to do the therapy work if you connect with your therapist. I can assure you that I'll do my best to help you feel at ease at your first appointment and it's something I pride myself on, of which you will see feedback I have received from clients, on my website. As well as my private counselling practice, I have worked for a wellness company, delivering mental health workshops. Historically, I worked for the NHS for 5 years as a Health Improvement Practitioner, running groups for behaviour change and 8 years as a family support practitioner for Barnardo's Children's Services. Counselling can be a game-changer for you, as it was for me. You'll learn things about yourself and others that you may never discover anywhere else. It inspired me to train and qualify as a therapist and was one of the best decisions I have made in my life, as I hope it is for you. I consider myself to be a very approachable and welcoming person, with a sense of humour that is appropriate as well as necessary in these stressful times we are currently living in and I'll do my best to put you at ease in your sessions. You can choose online or face to face sessions. I hope you find success in your therapy and please see my website for further information.
