James Bushnell
Integrative counsellorAbout Me
Hi there! I'm James. I have come across so many people that just need to talk and work through something they are dealing with. The problem for many is that there is no one in their life that would be safe to open up to out of fear of being judged or information getting passed on to someone they know. So having a person who is there and isn't connected with anyone else in your life, can be a valuable asset.
I believe that people often hold answers to their issues, but these answers can be so buried by low self-esteem, mental health issues or life controlling circumstances. My style of working is to come along side a person and gently help them to understand themselves. This can only happen if they feel safe and not judged, so I will go wherever the person leads me.
I am credentialed in the UK with 6 years of professional experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, relationship issues, & motivation, self esteem, and confidence.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and without judgement. I have a client led and person centred approach that underpins my practice.
Other therapeutic approaches that I work with are Psychodynamic, Humanistic, CBT and Transactional Analysis (TA). TA has proven to be very helpful in providing people with a way to understand themselves better. Sometimes the destination can be totally different from where the client expects it to be. Also sometimes the real issue can be different from what the client expects too. So if you'll be brave enough to reach out, let's take the journey together.
