Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
As a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist I am especially interested in working with adolescents who are experiencing depression, deliberate self harm, relationship difficulties and/or school based difficulties. I have extensive experience working with young people who have experienced trauma. I have nearly 20 years NHS experience working with young people and their families with complex mental health problems. I integrate Mindfulness Meditation in my work and I have a special interest in the unity of body and mind. I see young people individually or with their parent/s as required. I also work with parents individually where there are concerns about their child.
My approach is psychodynamic which means that we focus on feelings and thoughts and getting to know one's inner world. The focus is on the here and now and this includes the past in as much as it effects how one feels in the present. Sometimes things happen to us in the past that we would prefer to forget and it is by giving them attention in the present that we can ultimately let go of the feelings associated with them and feel more free.
