About Me

Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to begin. We can experience so much trauma, loss, hardship, pain and abuse that we don’t know what to do with our emotions and where to go with them…We might not be able to put into words how we feel but have this sense of needing to understand ourselves; or perhaps there is a deafening numbness, an emptiness we can no longer ignore. It can be difficult to ask for help and I commend you for doing a brave thing in taking the first step towards helping yourself.

And where to begin with selecting the right counsellor or therapist? With so much choice it can be overwhelming to select the right person for you. As a counsellor myself having experienced my own counselling I can say it’s essential to find someone you connect and get along with, someone who you feel listens to you without assumptions and someone who you can trust therefore if you decide to reach out to me or anyone else, know that you can change your mind, this needs to be right for you.

I want to be honest in telling you that no one here has the magic wand and I’d like to suggest that such a wand, if there ever was one could prevent you from the self-growth and self-empowerment which is available for you through the counselling journey. As a person-centred trained counsellor, I believe we all have potential to grow, to heal and to change if we are given the space to be truly heard and the environment to feel safe without fear of judgement. I like to work in a collaborative way meaning that there is a sense of balance between us and we navigate the sessions towards where you want to go rather than being told what to do, in this way it is my hope that you will develop the confidence to trust yourself perhaps for the first time.

~ Client review ~

"Indy has been really helpful. I go about my life with a jumble of feelings which have been restrictive and harmful to my mental health and she has been brilliant at helping me to unpack them, lay them out a bit at a time so I can see them clearly in a more objective way, start understanding them so I have a stronger base to move forward from. I feel empowered to help myself. "
