Ian Caley MSc MBACP
Addiction therapistAbout Me
Hi, I'm Ian, welcome. I hear from my clients that talking with a qualified therapist who also has first hand experience of the difficulty we are facing makes a huge difference. I am experienced both academically & first hand in addiction and substance misuse and want to be there with you as you navigate the complexities of drinking and drug misuse. We might be feeling shame, anxiety, depression or anger as a result. Sometimes drinking can get away from us and can make certain life experiences really hard. I work with clients who are trying to establish a new relationship with drinking, those just out of a treatment centre or those trying to come to terms with such things as a bereavement, and I am also qualified to, and work with people who are suffering with suicidal thoughts and thoughts of self harm.
I have two practices in East Sussex, one in Hove and one in Glynde just outside Lewes. I see clients face to face if they're local and I see clients online if they're from other areas of the UK or abroad.
When we work together, we'll talk about your experience. We'll talk about where you think you are with drinking/using. We'll talk about what it's like for you, and we'll come up with a plan. My clients are normally medium to long term and that tells me they value the depth of the work. I get to see people's lives and the lives of their loved ones turn around and change for the better, and we start to wake up regularly with peace of mind and gently, over time, improving self-esteem and self-respect, stronger boundaries and firmer, consistently steady relationships.
