Child psychotherapy psychotherapistAbout Me
Life can be hard; at these times it can be difficult to ask for help and see beyond our immediate unhappiness. Taking the initial step of seeing a therapist can be daunting but most people experience a sense of relief when they share what is troubling them.
I believe the therapeutic relationship has a wonderful potential to allow the safe exploration of feelings. I offer a non-judgmental space which can help you make sense of your life experiences. Therapy is not something that is done to you it is a process that we enter together in order for you to begin to discover what you want from your life and where you’re getting stuck in repeating patterns.
Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Children and young people may not have the language to express their experiences so they may communicate their distress through their behaviour. Psychotherapy can help them connect with, express and develop language for their emotional difficulties. This can facilitate them feeling understood and therefore less isolated in their experience. Sometimes it can be difficult to access feelings through words alone, so I offer a variety of creative approaches such as: sand tray, art and play.
Adult Psychotherapy
Often our earliest experiences have shaped us and created a pattern or template for how we meet the world. We often lock away painful experiences in order to protect ourselves, but this can leave us feeling hollow. By becoming aware of these inner patterns and facing difficult experiences we become freer to move forwards in our lives.
Each therapeutic journey is different dependent on your individual needs. Being integrative, I draw on many different psychological theories and approached. I offer both short- and long-term therapy. Short term therapy is usually focussed on a particular issue e.g bereavement, phobia.
I have a particular interest in working with adults as I believe the in depth knowledge I hold about child developement facilitates the work enormously.
Parenting Work
Being a parent is one of the toughest jobs of all. Understanding your child’s communications can be hard. I offer a space in which we can think together about your child and what they may be communicating to you through their behaviours in order to have less conflicted and more fulfilling relationships.
Eco-psychotherapy
I am currently training in eco-psychotherapy for which I have a huge passion. This means I have a strong belief in the healing that can come from being in relationship with nature and all the other beings that inhabit this planet which we call home.
I offer walk and talk therapy within parks in Enfield in which nature and the ‘other than human world’ become a part in the therapy. Whether you are experiencing eco-anxiety or eco-distress or struggling in your life and at a point of reaching out for support, having the healing power of the natural world as a part of the therapeutic work is and always has been a powerful resource which sits alongside, and I believe aids the therapeutic process.
Next Steps
If you decide to contact me, I will arrange an initial online consultation to explore whether I can be of to help you. This would give you a sense of me as a therapist and enable you to assess if I am the right therapist for you. I offer both face to face and online work at the moment.
If you are looking for therapy for a child or young person the process may vary. I would invite both parent(s)/carer(s) to an initial consultation and then meet the child or young person for a few sessions. I would then share my treatment plan.
If you are looking for walk and talk therapy, please contact me and we can arrange a session.
