About Me

I offer a Counselling and Psychotherapy service to adults, families and young people who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. I am a BACP accredited Counsellor with over 20 years experience of direct client work particularly with families and young people. I have worked in a range of settings including Schools, CAMHS and Medical Centres.

I am an accredited Associate Counsellor with various Employee Assistance Programmes and Private Insurance Schemes including Bupa and Nuffield and work with a range of clients  with varying presenting issues including work related issues, anxiety, addictions and depression.

Counselling involves providing a safe, containing space for clients to explore their emotional distress. I feel it is important to use the first session to explore ways in which we can work together and address the possible reasons for accessing support at this particular time. I attach great importance in developing a honest, trusting and non- judgemental relationship with my clients.

Although my core training is Psychodynamic I use an integrated approach that brings together different elements of specific therapies. This helps to provide greater flexibility when working with clients and their presenting issues.

I use aspects of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help clients recognise the relationship between thoughts, feelings and actions so to avoid becoming trapped in negative cycles of thought and behaviour.

I am a Mindfulness Practitioner trained to work with young people and adults and use this in my work with clients.

I am also qualified to deliver an 8 week Mindfulness Course, either 1-1 or in small groups as a means to promote positive mental health and manage challenges more resourcefully. Mindfulness has been approved by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence as an effective treatment for anxiety and depression.

I am able to offer counselling in a range of South Asian languages. Multi -Cultural Counselling can provide a therapeutic space for clients to explore their emotions in their mother tongue which will help them to identify with their inner feelings and positively enhance the client - therapist relationship
