Integrative counsellorAbout Me
Often the assumption is if you try to bury a feeling or experience it will eventually go away; in fact the reverse is true. By leaning in to those difficult thoughts, and trying to make sense of why or how we feel a certain way, we gain a deeper understanding of what is truly going on. With understanding comes the opportunity to process a past experience or emotion and be able to integrate them in a way that means that they become part of your lived experience but no longer the part that defines you in the present. You are more than your lived experience, even though at this moment it may not feel that way, and you have the resources within you to move forward and make the necessary changes that will benefit you. The aim of our work is for you to feel empowered to make those changes.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to help facilitate those changes. I am an experienced integrative Counsellor and have worked with a broad range of presenting issues including depression, self harm, self-esteem, issues relating to sexuality. Working integratively simply means that my practice is not founded on one single therapeutic approach. With several therapeutic approaches at my disposal, I am able to draw on the most appropriate approach in accordance with the needs of my client. No one client is the same; I believe that neither should my approach be.
I am a registered member of the BACP ( British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy ) and hold Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.
