Emma Leonce
Transpersonal psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello.
My name is Emma and I am a qualified and accredited psychotherapist.
Why might you seek help?
Life can be challenging and you may have experienced sadness, loss or traumatic experiences which have left you feeling out of touch with who you are. In some cases we may find ourselves stuck, with feelings of despair or dissatisfaction and unable to move forward, even if life is seemingly smooth. My primary focus when working with my clients is to provide a safe, caring, honest and open space for you to express yourself and be seen, heard and understood without judgement. From this place, personal exploration and the potential for growth and development can flourish.
About me
My style of working is grounded in being personable and authentic, in the hope that will allow the people I work with to feel comfortable. I am here to listen and support you through your experiences, and walk alongside you in your journey of therapy. I work integratively which means I will uniquely tailor the sessions based on you and the issues you bring. My approach to psychotherapy is transpersonal, which means ‘beyond the personal’ and this reflects the core aim of this holistic approach to therapy, which is to explore human growth and be with my clients in discovering a deeper and more authentic self. I combine talking therapy with creative work and psychodynamic, humanistic and existential approaches, suited to your individual needs.
The initial session
I am aware that making contact to book your first appointment may feel daunting. Therefore after you initially make contact, we will start by having a 15-20 minute conversation on the phone or on Zoom, ( free of charge) to allow you to ask me any questions that you may have about the process and get a sense of me. If after this you would like to proceed, I will meet with you in person or on Zoom for an initial consultation. In this session we will get the opportunity to explore your reasons for coming to therapy, explore what you would like to work on and for you to ask any further questions and get a sense of my style of working. If you are then happy to move forward, our sessions will be weekly and 50 minutes long.
Why does therapy help?
Healing comes from being seen and connecting with those who understand us . For some, therapy is the first time that they can truly experience this. Allowing yourself the time in therapy each week to honestly express your feelings of sadness, frustration, anger and your desires, creates the space for clarity, a chance to unpick old patterns and figure out what is best for you moving forward. Its an opportunity for self-care; a space that is for you and you only.
Whilst we cannot change the past, I truly believe in the healing potential of psychotherapy in the present and for the future and that you can create a life which is purposeful and gratifying.
