About Me

I am a qualified and experienced therapist working at West London Therapy Practice close to Euston Square, Warren Street and Great Portland Street underground stations.

I provide counselling and psychodynamic psychotherapy to adults.

I practice in a gentle, collaborative way - at all times working in my clients’ best interests.

I am governed by the ethical standards and codes of practice set by FPC, BPC and BACP.

Whatever you are going through, it is likely you have a valid reason to seek therapy, yet it might feel worrying to realise, or to be told, that you need help.  I appreciate, then, that this is an important step for you.

My aim is to help you discover and address the root of your problem, and not just deal with the symptoms. This means that I usually work with clients over longer periods of time on a weekly/twice-weekly basis.

The psychodynamic approach holds with the idea that for all of us, our present state of mind is influenced by unconscious memories of the past.

When something is very difficult or painful we can find ourselves trying to ignore it.  Most of the time we know when we are doing this but, sometimes, we can avoid or hide something so successfully that we lose sight of it completely. As a result, we might not necessarily notice the impact this is having on our present wellbeing, and on our responses to others.

Indeed, early negative experiences can lead to unhelpful patterns of behaviour which might cause our work, family life and relationships to become unsatisfactory, or to keep going wrong in familiar and distressing ways.

I am therefore concerned with listening to you, and trying to help you become aware of and understand how past experiences, often from childhood, are affecting your life now, and the way you regard yourself.

I do understand that you might feel unsure about having therapy, or about what is troubling you, so it is helpful to have an initial consultation with me to explore what will be useful for you.  This is an opportunity for you to find out whether I am someone you could talk to, and to gain an idea of how we might work together. If necessary, we can have further sessions together before deciding to proceed.

Please know you may contact me in the strictest confidence with any questions or worries.  My practice website will also provide you with more information: www.westlondontherapypractice.com.
