Damien Kelly
Psychoanalytic psychotherapistAbout Me
I am an attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapist in training. I have extensive experience working with individuals diagnosed with personality disorders, as well as those dealing with substance misuse (including chemsex), shame, trauma, anxiety, loss, and relationship issues. I have also worked with people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and institutionalisation. Additionally, I am experienced in providing support using Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills tailored for individuals diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) or those with similar traits.
In my therapeutic approach, I emphasise Bowlby’s attachment theory, which underscores the significance of understanding relationships, showing compassion, and promoting individual well-being. Moreover, I integrate psychoanalysis to shed light on unconscious processes, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of the human psyche.
My primary goal is to provide you with a supportive and understanding environment. I firmly believe in the transformative power of therapy and am dedicated to helping you navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace.
Please feel free to contact me if you're ready to take the first step or have questions.

Training and qualifications
After graduating from Trinity College, Dublin, where I studied psychology, I managed the Inspired Personality Disorder Service. I then completed four years of attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy training at the Bowlby Centre in London. I'm a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS) and am working towards complete UKCP registration. I have experience supporting clients in private practice, the NHS, and the voluntary sector.
