About me
Hello, my name is Dafiny Alves. I am a mixed-race Brazilian, neurodivergent Integrative Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, and Life Coach. I am also a certified Anxiety and Trauma-informed practitioner and a proud member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and NCPS (National Council of Psychotherapists). I have extensive experience counselling neurodivergent young people and young adults who are navigating their neurodivergence or struggling with anxiety and depression. As a neurodivergent and culturally affirmative therapist, I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals from all neurodiverse backgrounds. My approach is rooted in understanding and affirming the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges that come with neurodivergence. I deeply believe in the importance of embracing individuality and fostering self-acceptance. I am passionate about my work and find it immensely gratifying to support young adults, as I learn so much from each of them. While I don’t believe therapy is magic, I find it to be powerful and somewhat magical to witness my clients beginning to feel more confident and compassionate towards themselves in our sessions and slowly discovering the transformations they sought when they embarked on their therapeutic journey. (Therapy works; I have seen it in action!) As I mentioned, I am neurodivergent. This means that if you identify as neurodivergent as well, we will likely connect on a deeper level, as I have noticed this positive dynamic with many of my past and present clients. Things to know about me: I can come across as quirky or peculiar, and I have a good sense of humour (I've been told I have an accent, too!). I am approachable and non-judgmental. One fun fact is that I am not very good with numbers due to my dyscalculia, but I always find my way eventually. Areas I specialise in: Anxiety Intrusive thoughts Negative thoughts OCD Worries, overthinking, and rumination Suicidal thoughts Self-harm Depression Low self-esteem Obsessive thoughts Perfectionism If you resonate with any of these challenges, I would love to work with you. Together, we can explore your experiences and work towards finding the relief and understanding you deserve.
