I offer a safe, supportive space and encourage clients to explore their difficulties in a compassionate way. A caring sensitive approach allows clients to find kindness towards themselves and to slowly discover their strengths and the confidence to use them. As well as building confidence, I also foster a non-judgemental self-awareness and self-acceptance, which paradoxically makes change possible.
I support clients who want to reassess their life paths, their priorities and relationships, and those who want to learn to deal with destructive repetative patterns.
I am experienced in dealing with all types of anxiety disorders, depression, childhood trauma and trauma arising from negative life experiences, relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, and women's issues.
Integrating existential and person-centred therapy with tools from CBT allows me to tailor my approach to each individual. I practise mindfulness for my own benefit and can teach mindfulness techniques, which enhance well-being and self-awareness and are clinically proven to be effective with anxiety and depression.
In addition, I offer EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), which is recommended by NICE (NHS) for the treatment of posttraumatic stress, and for trauma arising from accidents, operations, and childhood abuse. It is also helpful with most anxiety disorders including social anxiety, and problems such as public speaking, or fear of flying.
I follow UKCP guidelines and feel that confidentiality is paramount for the counselling process.
I currently work in private practice and as a counsellor at a London bereavement service.
