Charlotte Wickers Psychodynamic counsellor , W1G
I specialise in anxiety and depression. I welcome all adult clients (18+) for short or long term work and have experience of a wide range of issues. I have particular experience working with young adults 18-30 and in perinatal work.
I have worked as a Women's Health Counsellor (issues around pregnancy, the ante- and postnatal period, and sexual health) in two NHS Hospitals for several years. I worked at a GP practice, counselling patients with a diverse range of feelings and problems. I also counsel University students, and currently spend some of my week working with performance art students of all ages.
Issues that arise in my work are many and complex, and include loss and separation, perfectionism and procrastination, bereavement, general anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts, performance anxiety, social anxiety, gender dysphoria, body dysphoria, self-harm, eating disorders, difficulties with relationships (at home or in the workplace) and general despair. Through my experience of listening to clients with a diverse range of psychological and emotional difficulties, I believe that talking really does help.
You are welcome to come and see me in my private practice. I work from two rooms - one in Muswell Hill in Haringey N10; the other in London's West End (W1). My practice offers a warm, safe and confidential setting, where you are free to speak in confidence without fear of being judged or criticised.
I believe that the relationship between myself and a client is the most important aspect of our work. Talking things through with a trained professional can help you to clarify your feelings, explore your anxieties in greater depth, and begin to find new ways to cope.
My work is based on psychodynamic principles. In short, this means that while I focus on how you feel today, I also take into account your past relationships and experiences, including your childhood, and how these may unconsciously be influencing your present feelings and behaviour.
I also offer counselling and psychotherapy sessions to counsellors in training.
If you would like to discuss an appointment, or ask any further questions, you are very welcome to phone or email me. I will call you back as soon as I can.
