Catherine McCormick
IntegrativeAbout Me
I am a qualified integrative counsellor, specialising in working with grief, loss and low self-esteem. I work with individual adults, adolescents and children.
I believe to be truly heard and emotionally met where you are at can be an incredibly powerful and healing experience and can help towards cultivating a healthy inner life.
Seeking therapy takes courage and through my warm, collaborative and non-judgmental approach, I will attune and listen to you attentively. Therapy is designed to help untangle some of your thoughts and feelings, to help you understand yourself better and to give you a confidential space to work through what you might be facing in your life.
I have extensive experience of working with people of all ages with a wide range of issues. My role is to offer you a space for understanding, processing and learning how to manage your experiences. I have helped clients with issues such as grief, anxiety and self-esteem, depression, trauma, self harm, relationships, parenting, burnout, loss and identity. While my approach to counselling is both creative and integrative in nature, I also draw on the strengths of various other counselling approaches including attachment theory, person centred, psychodynamic and systemic.
I have been seeing clients since 2017, working in schools, low-cost therapy settings and privately. I am registered with the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) and hold an enhanced DBS check.
Prior to working as a counsellor, I worked in the music industry for many years. I am a classical pianist, have a music degree and I have taught music in schools. My approach to counselling is both creative and integrative in nature and this marries my sensitivities of a musician and a counsellor. I have lived and worked abroad twice ( in Amsterdam and Zurich) and this has been enriching for me from a cultural and diversity perspective.
