About Me
I am a retired Police Drugs Expert and Specialist Trainer, specialising in the cognitive and developmental effects of recreational and prescription drug use and their co-morbidities. I work currently for the NHS in the delivery of 1:1 CBT therapies to Prison inmates in Kent Prisons. I also am employed as a 1:1 sessional worker in a Kent Pupil Referral Unit targeting diagnosed mental health conditions; prescription drug use and recreational drug use and co-morbidities; adolescent cognitive development, and behavioural issues.
I am fully trained in delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, and I employ Mindfulness techniques extensively.
I specialise in ADHD behavioural and cognitive issues; personality disorders; prescription and recreational drug dependencies, and behavioural and adolescent and adult developmental issues pertaining to mental health. I have provided training in these areas over many years to Magistrates (drugs training); Social Services (drugs training and mental health); Education (drugs use and paraphernalia, and cognitive development); Job Centre Plus (drugs safety and response to mental health disturbance); Voluntary Sector (drugs training and mental health); Housing Sector (private and social) (drugs training, risks and response; cognitive development and mental health issues); and with criminaloffenders (understanding drugs – use and outcomes; cognitive development; personality disorders; mental health diagnosed conditions and outcomes), and many drugs education presentations to literally thousands of secondary school pupils throughout the south east of England over many years.
I am a student of Neuroscience and Psychology with Kings College, London and believe that empowerment through psychoeducation is an important element of the therapeutic process.
I am a Mindfulness practitioner and advocate.
